Movie Reviews (yes, plural)

Unlucky for me, but lucky for you, I was a bit under the weather last week. Really just one day of not being able to move or function. It wasn’t great. However, all I do is think of our fans and all I could think about is “How do I turn this miserable day into a great day for YOU?” I know, I’m super sweet. Well, lucky for you, I decided to spend my time not leaving bed watching some films – so I have MULTIPLE movie reviews for you. Buckle up!

Rampage (2018)
I debated using Kyle’s suggestion from Episode 8 (if you haven’t listened, please do so on YouTube until we get it properly uploaded – it’s our best one yet!) and give one word movie reviews. This one would have been Rock-y – but I’ll explain why. The Rock, of course, stars in Rampage, which is about animals that go crazy. I think it’s based on a video game – Andy will you confirm? Animals get hit with a serum from some bad docs and they get really big and go crazy. First it happens to a test rat in space (anything more terrifying than a giant fucking rat in space?) – then it happens to The Rock’s favorite gorilla, George, a wolf, and an alligator. The three super animals team up to terrorize the city and go destroy a building…after that I’m not sure what their motive is. But they’re really big and tearing the shit out of the city. I mean it’s a normal Rock movie – action, good looks, and a little fun.

Sleepless (2017)
Sleepless features Jamie Foxx and was by far the best movie I watched while home sick. It’s about a cop who is undercover on a huge drug deal and he gets a little tangled up with the wrong crowd. There’s some insiders and his son gets kidnapped. So Foxx basically walks into a casino, where most the movie takes place, and starts to fuck shit up. It’s a pretty nice action movie with a compelling enough story to keep you interested. It’s your typical drug dealer/cop/kidnapped family story – but it’s well enough written to make it worth a watch.

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle (2018)
This was Netflix’s big purchase which kept Mowgli from hitting theaters a mere 2 years after “The Jungle Book.” I was cautiously optimistic on this one, though “TJB” didn’t do a lot for me. It was……okay? That’s my one word for Mowgli. I guess I’m not shocked, but it was just a lot of hype and not really much substance. There were some cool scenes and it was an okay story but it just fell flat to me. Now, don’t get me wrong – The Jungle Book did too – and lots of people liked it. So maybe there’s still hope – but for me, this is a pass. Just watch the original Disney flick.

That’s it – I started a couple more but I haven’t quite finished them yet. When I do, you’ll be the first to know! Until next time I’m sick, enjoy these reviews and at least one is definitely worth a watch!
