Happy Movember!

Happy Movember everyone! No, I didn’t just misspell November, Movember is a thing! What is it you ask? Well it just so happens to be a one, two punch of 1. My favorite time of year and 2. My favorite charity! Movember is a combination of Mustache+November. Some may have heard a version of this celebration called “No shave November”. Well, Movember takes that concept and tailors it to have a positive impact on the world! Movember is all about growing a mustache to raise awareness for men’s health! This means everything from Prostate and Testicular cancer to Suicide. Check out their website to learn more, but here are some of the facts:

  1. Men experience worse longer-term health than women and die on average six years earlier.
  2. Prostate cancer rates will double in the next 15 years.
  3. Testicular cancer rates have already doubled in the last 50.
  4. 75% of suicides are men. Poor mental health leads to half a million men taking their own life every year. That’s one every minute.

What are some ways you can help?

  • Obviously I know not everyone is able, but if you can, donations are the backbone of any charity. You can give at this link: https://us.movember.com/donate
  • Take some time to talk to your buddies. If you are a man or have friends who are men or loved ones who are men, take some time to check in on them and ask how they are doing. You never know how something as simple as grabbing a beer and catching up, or just listening to what your bro has to say, can make a difference. And it never hurts to say “I love you, Man”. Hell, if you ever need to get something off your chest and feel like you don’t have anyone to talk to, just put it into the comments here. It’ll be anonymous, I mean, our name is Opinions Anonymous. Make this your de-stress zone.
  • Raise awareness by growing a Mustache, I know this one seems silly, but that’s what raising awareness is all about. I know my mustache is going to look absolutely pathetic and ridiculous, I’m just not good at growing one, but you bet your ass I’ll try. And anytime someone asks me why I’m doing it – I’ll let them know it’s to raise awareness for men’s heath.

So in conclusion, let’s take a look at some of the best mustaches throughout history.
