Sunday Scaries 10/17/21

Hey gang! Hope you all have had a fantastic weekend so far! Let’s keep the good times rolling and fight off those Sunday Scaries. And let me tell you, I know a thing a two about them because I made a promise to twitter to burn my bed.

I promise our logistics team is working on the bed burning situation, I guess this is a “good thing” but it is much harder to burn a bed in the middle of downtown Indianapolis than I thought it would be. So here are a few suggestions from me to keep the Scaries at bay.

Think about how good Purdue Football is

Although my Boilermakers giving Iowa the business is the main cause of my Scaries today, I can’t help but be overjoyed every time I think about that game yesterday! My goal every year for Purdue Football is just find a way to get to 6 wins and make it to a bowl game. With our boys sitting at 4-2 with 6 games left, this feels like a very achievable goal. Also, to add to the fun times Purdue Football is ranked in the AP top 25 for the first time since 2007! Plus, life as sports fan is like 90% pain and agony so you’ve got to enjoy the good times, even if it means burning your bed. (If anyone has any good mattress recommendations don’t be afraid to let me know!)

Call Mom

I understand that not everyone out there has a great relationship with their mother, but for me whenever I get off the phone with my mom I just feel better about life. Its always good to get caught up on all the family news and hear all the silly things my nieces and nephews have been doing. It’s funny to think that back in High School I thought my mom was annoying. Then in college she would call me every Sunday to make sure I was still alive, and now we’ve reached the point where I’m the one calling her every Sunday to catch up. My mom is an avid IU sports fan and she even pretends to be excited for me when Purdue wins so what more could I need? And who knows, maybe if your relationship with your mom isn’t as good as you would like it, a little phone call to her will get things rolling in the right direction.

Watch a Movie

Normally Cousin Luke and Cousin Tyler handle the movie talk here at Opinions Anonymous but I recently had a work retreat to Disney World (we can talk about that in another blog if you all would like) and it made me realize that I am not near as up to date on “newer” Disney movies so I had myself a little movie marathon Friday night and watched Moana, Zootopia, and Monsters University if you need any suggestions for your movie of choice! They were all great heartwarming stories and I believe I teared up at least once during each of them. Nothing better than a good, cathartic, Disney-induced cry to make you feel alive on a Sunday Night!

Listen to Music

Music is a great escape from everyday living. We all have that one song that just makes you forget about all the shit in your life and relax for a bit. For me here lately, that song has been Another Day in the Life by Cole Chaney (Song #4 down below)

It’s a song about enjoying all the simple things in life and how even when things don’t go as we planned there’s still a lot to be thankful for. It’s hard work trying to straighten out my mess of a life every Sunday evening but this one just seems to get me in the right mindset about life. Is it dumb that I need a song to help me get my priorities straight? Yes, but I’m kind of a dumb guy so back off!

That’s all I got this week, I’ll check back in next week with some more Sunday Scaries fighting tips! Let us know in the comments what you are doing to keep them at bay! Have a great week everyone! And don’t forget to drink plenty of water!
