September 2021 Video Games

Good day my friends! G’day as they say down under. IT’S VIDEO GAME TIME! I love video games. I always have. And recently, on the 2 Luke’s podcast, we discussed video games and a new weekly thing we are going to do to branch out a bit. Well, I’m here to do a little bit more and give you the written form of what we discuss on the pod with some bonuses. I’ll aim to do this every month (how many of these promises do I make?) because I think it’s super fun. Okay, here’s what’s up:

I’m going to rate each game that I play throughout the month based on certain criteria. Criteria may change slightly as I get going into this but I’m going to start with:
Playability
Difficulty
Funness
I’m not sure – graphics aren’t really a thing in 2021. It’ll come to me, I’m sure.

Phasmophobia
Phasmophobia is a game that I’ve talked about no less than a dozen times, I’m sure. BUT, September was the 1 year anniversary of the game. So, I’m counting it as I play it every week with my homies. Phasmophobia, for those living under a rock, is a co-op (up to) 4 player ghost hunting game that is just MILES above the best thing I’ve ever done. Part of it is the enjoyment of playing with friends that I don’t get to see enough but I also will play solo or with random people, so it’s just fun.
Difficulty: 7/10
Funness: 10/10
Playability/Sustainability (how long I could play): 10/10 – I’m playing after a year!
Overall: 9/10

12 Minutes
12 Minutes was the first game 2 Lukes decided to play, on my accord. I saw the trailer for 12 Minutes and was hooked. Voiced by Willem DeFoe and James McAvoy, in this star studded game, you play as a husband who comes home to his wife in a small apartment (3 rooms). The key is you have 12 minutes per loop (or shorter if something happens….). This one is hard to explain without giving it away – but it’s a ridiculous mind bender of loop after loop trying to uncover the mystery of “did my wife murder her father?” It’s so wild and crazy to talk about with a friend while playing.
Difficulty: 9/10
Funness: 7/10
Sustainability: 5/10
Overall: 7/10

Rain on Your Parade
Game Pass (the gaming subscription 2 Lukes are using) has a “random” button essentially that picks the next game for us to play. It gives us the ability to play games we would never otherwise play. The first game that was randomized for us was Rain on Your Parade. The point of the game is…..you’re a cloud. And you rain on things. (?)
Difficulty: 3/10
Funness: 3/10
Sustainability: 3/10
Overall: simple, 3/10

Descenders
Descenders was my attempt to get back into one of the greatest games of my generation growing up – DOWNHILL DOMINATION. Just fantastic. It’s a downhill biking game where you try to complete objectives. Had some steam (no pun intended) but I’m not sure I overall got the full effect on this one.
Difficulty: 6/10
Funness: 5/10
Sustainability: 4/10
Overall: 5/10

So there you have it – that’s September. Stay tuned to 2 Lukes for some solid gaming coming up and stay tuned to this blog to get updates from some games I’m playing outside of the normal. What games are you playing? Anything I should check out?
