Nostalgia Toys Part 1

As soon as I heard “Creepy Crawler Machine” come out of Kyle’s mouth on the Christmas Special, I have been dying to think about some nostalgia toys from my childhood and sharing them with you guys.

The first one I’m going to talk about….IS THE CREEPY CRAWLER MACHINE. Look, when I heard Kyle say it, I yelled “YES!” out loud and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I immediately text my brother and he was clueless but I was like damnit this was life!

Okay – check out the ad:

How fucking cool is that?! That happened in my house every day. Okay, so here’s the concept. You get a bunch of goo and some molds and a machine that gets hotter than the sun in like 8 seconds. You literally could smell the odor of burning goo every time you turned this on. It should not have been for kids – BUT IT WAS! Back in the good days when kids could run crazy and everyone behaved and life was simple. But I’ll never forget these machines. Here’s what a good day looked like:

Heaven on gooey earth

That’s perfection right there. Okay, granted, once these things were made, there wasn’t a lot to do except scare your brother or toss into a box (like the above) but there was something so satisfying about creating a serious monster. Then, if you were really daring, you could MIX GOO COLORS TOGETHER TO CREATE A SPIDER THAT HAS LIKE BLOOD OR SOMETHING. Maybe my childhood imagination was so great that this machine sucked, but you won’t convince me otherwise.

Here’s a look at the mold you put them in:

And the final product:

I don’t know what it was. Maybe the mystique of burning my fingers or trying to be better than my older brother who had scary bugs…regardless, this one is an all-timer.

Did you ever have a Creepy Crawler machine? Did you ever burn your fingers to where it still impacts you today? Drop down in the comments and let us know!

  1. I loved Creepy Crawlers so much that I don’t have fingerprints anymore. They were burnt off from touching the mold too soon after it came out of the machine.
